1959-1965 - Agnes took over for Irna Phillips as Head writer on "The Guiding Light"

1962 - While head writing "The Guiding Light,"

Agnes lost a friend to cervical cancer. She introduced a cancer scare storyline for social climber Bert Bauer. At the time soap writers couldn't use the words cancer, uterus or PAP smear on television, but in the end the story of Bert's cancer scare set an example for millions of women, who followed her toward a more proactive attitude toward cancer prevention.

1965-1967 - Agnes worked as head writer on "Another World"

a series set in the midwestern town of Bay City which told the stories of different backgrounds and social circles.

1967-68 - Agnes created "One Life to Live"

which premiered on ABC in 1968. It was set in the fictional town of Llanview, Pennsylvania. OLTL primarily focused on the wealthy Lord family, the Siegels, the first Jewish family on a daytime drama and the middle-class Wolek and Riley families. Although the show was built along the classic soap formula of a rich family and a poor family, OLTL emphasized the ethnic and socioeconomic diversity of the people of Llanview.

1968 - Agnes introduced soap opera's first African-American leads,

Carla Gray (Ellen Holly), and Ed Hall (Al Freeman, Jr.). Gray's story, for example, had her develop from a character (an actress named Carla Benari) who was passing as white to one who embodied black pride, with white and black loves along the way, to antagonize racists.

Late 1960's - Agnes created the "bible" for "All My Children."
